Importance of vitamin C in human health

June 18, 2022 by Prashanth Cheruku, M.Tech Leave a Comment

Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin that is essential for humans. It plays a vital role in helping our body fight with infections and healing wounds.

This vitamin plays an important role in making Collagen. Collagen is an important component of connective tissue and plays a vital role in the healing of wounds.

Free radicals are formed when we are exposed to pollution, Ultra Violet (UV) rays in the sunlight and when we are under extreme physical or mental stress. Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that can help us fight with the damage caused by these free radicals.

This vitamin is also involved in making several hormones, neurotransmitters and is also involved in protein metabolism.
