Are Cucumbers high in Calories?

June 20, 2023 by Prashanth Cheruku, M.Tech Leave a Comment

In this post & video let’s demystify the Calorie count of cucumbers and also look at some of the nutrients present in them.

Cucumber is a widely grown vegetable crop that is native to Asia. Here is one interesting fact about them. From a botanical standpoint cucumbers are classified as fruits.

Cucumbers are widely consumed in many parts of the world and the majority of their production is from Asia.

Cucumbers have a mild but distinct flavour of their own.

About 95% of their total weight is occupied by water. This high level of moisture content significantly reduces the overall Calorie count of them.

100 grams of Cucumbers with peel contain as little as 15 Calories or 65 kilojoules of energy.

If we take one cucumber with about 8 inches in length it weighs approximately 300 grams and surprisingly it provides us just 45.2 Calories (196 kJ).
